Le ministère des finances hongrois György Matolcsy fait des vagues à Bruxelles, déclarant qu'il voit l'euro rester dans la panade pour encore une décennie:

Brussels - Hungary's Finance Minister Gyorgy Matolcsy appeared to have irked a European Union colleague on Tuesday when he suggested that the eurozone crisis could last another ten years.

Matolcsy was speaking in a televised session of a meeting between EU finance ministers in Brussels, which he was chairing as a representative of the bloc's rotating presidency.

It could be 'that the euro is endangered for another decade,' Matolcsy said, as he presented the sitting EU presidency's plans to get proposals approved to strengthen economic coordination within the bloc.

'I'm glad that such comments are not coming from ministers that are part of the eurozone,' Austrian Finance Minister retorted after the talks had ended.

Hungary has had a difficult start to its EU presidency. Its January 1 debut in the post was overshadowed by controversy over its recently adopted media law, which critics say is a threat to civil liberties.
